Only use email when it is the most appropriate mode of communication.
HELPFUL HINT:
Don't use email to:
- Send confidential information.
- Send a private or a personal message.
- Deliver unpleasant news. As a rule, deliver unpleasant news in person. Never reprimand or fire someone in an email.
- Send an emotional message. Compose yourself before you compose your message. Don’t take the chance of sending a poorly worded message that was composed when you were upset, angry or exhausted. Take the time to calm down before sending a potentially damaging email message.
