Remember to change your greeting to indicate which colleague will handle your calls while you are away. Keep in mind that your colleague should be able to answer your callers’ questions as well as you can. For example, you may say on your voicemail message: “Good morning/Good afternoon, you have reached the desk of Owen Brown, at FirstCaribbean. I will be on vacation from April 19 to April 25 and will not be checking my voicemail messages. While I’m away, Mary Webster at extension 123 will be pleased to help you. Thank you for calling.”
