If your colleague is unavailable take a message.
HELPFUL HINT:
In every message you should include the following:
- The caller’s name.
- The date and time of the call.
- The caller’s phone number. It is best to verify this number again after you have written it down.
- A specific message to a colleague. Keep the message brief and explain the reason for the call and note the best time to return the call.
- Inform the caller that they will be called back within 24 hours.
