Misuse and overuse of the “hold button” has become a negative experience for callers everywhere. Have you ever been put on hold before you even had a chance to say something? Have you ever overheard a conversation when the individual on the other end of the line thought you were on hold? Have you ever been placed on hold and then had to listen to music or company advertising?

A survey by USA Today indicated that what customers hate, more than anything else relating to the telephone is to be put on “hold”.
