Formality can create credibility. Titles and formality can create credibility. Use the caller’s first name only if:

  • You have established a good rapport over a period of time.
  • You have been called by your first name.
  • You know the caller and know that he/she is comfortable on a first name basis.
  • The customer explicitly asks to be called by their first name.
